I am  sharing some secrets of Windows XP. These secrets may or may not apply to newer Windows Operating Systems. Notepad Secrets Create a log Open Notepad On the very first line, type in " .LOG " (without quotes) then press Enter for a new line Now you can type in some text if you want, then save the file. Next time when you open the file, notice its contents. Notepad automatically adds a time/date log everytime you open the file. Text becomes unreadable Open Notepad On the very first line, type in " dont eat the donut " (without quotes) then save and close the file. Note : the file should have only one line of the text above. Now, open the same file. You'll notice the text becomes unreadable squares. (try this with different text with the same format and length). When you need a really big window for viewing photos and videos, don't just maximize it: go full screen! This tip works great for viewing photos and videos at maximum size in Windows Explorer or Windows Media Player, utilizing screen space usually occupied by the header at the top of the screen and the taskbar at the bottom. Here’s how: Open any photo in Windows Explorer, or open a photo or video clip in Windows Media Player. Do one of the following: In Windows 7 and Windows XP, click the F11 key at the top of your keyboard. The photo or video image enlarges to its maximum size and the title bar and taskbar are hidden. Safe Mode is most commonly used for troubleshooting purposes.  If you find yourself booting to safe mode often. You may find it helpful to include the option for safe mode in your boot menu. Below, is a method you can use to save yourself from having to press F8 during startup to access Safe Mode: Right click My Computer and click Properties. Click the Advanced tab. Under Start Up and Recovery, click the Settings button. Click Edit. The boot.ini file will open in Notepad. Copy the line that reads as follows: multi(0)disk(0)rdisk(0)partition(2)\WINDOWS="Microsoft Windows XP Professional" /fastdetect. Paste the line you just copied after the original one. Change the copied line from "Microsoft Windows XP Professional" to "Windows XP Safe Mode" or something similar. At the end of this line add the following: /...

For a while now, I’ve been hiding my desktop icons and using a taskbar toolbar instead. It’s a lot tidier, and one somewhat useful benefit is having the recycle bin always close at hand — without having to windows + D.   The only downside to using the desktop as a taskbar toolbar is that the recycle bin won’t move in front of Libraries or your user folder. If you want the bin in full view, you’re stuck displaying at least three icons — two of which you don’t need if you already have Explorer pinned. I bet you didn't know that you could move your taskbar if you wanted.  Mostly I leave mine at the bottom, like the rest of the population, but occasionally I feel like going wild and have the taskbar at the top of my computer.  The Taskbar is that thin bar at the bottom where you can see all your open programs, the start menu, the clock, etc.  Now, in WinXP they made it very nice to move it.  This is how: Right Click on the Taskbar Click, Lock the Taskbar, until there is no check there Left Click on the task bar and move it to where you want it...it will always rest up against an edge, so top, left or right. Unfortunately, the printed watermark feature is not available on any version of Excel (including Excel 2007, 2010).
