The different types of viruses are as follows: 1) Boot Sector Virus:- Boot sector viruses infect either the master boot record of the hard disk or the flopy drive. The boot record program responsible for the booting of the operating system is replaced by the viruses.The virus either copies the master boot program to another part of the hard disk or overwrites it. They infect a computer when it boots up or when it accesses the infected floppy disk in the floppy drive. i.e. Once a system is infected with a boot-sector virus, any non-write-protected disk accessed by this system will become infected. Examples of boot- sector viruses are Michelangelo and Stoned. 2) File or Program Viruses:-  Some files/programs, when executed, load the virus in the memory and perform predefined functions to infect the system. They infect program files with extensions like .EXE, .COM, .BIN,.DRV and .SYS . Some common file viruses are Sunday, Cascade. 3) Multipartite Viruses:- ...

I am pretty sure about this fact, that if I will ask this question; most of the people would say, "NO, We don't have an antivirus! Do we really need it?". And my friends from India and other asian countries, I can't even expect people to have genuine copies of their operating systems. This is a shame on us. You are purchasing the hardwares but not the softwares! You are using carcked or pirated versions. If you think this is not a crime, just sit and think again, if you would have not purchased your PC or Lap Top but have jumped inside the store took the PC or the Laptop and just have ran away. Will this be a crime? Of course the reply would be positive this time. Your machines (Hardwares) need quality softwares to make full utilization of your system. Always make sure that you purchase a genuine copy of Operating System.
