Write A Batch File To Start Programs In Startup

You can start your computer applications automatically and control the sequence of the programs when your computer comes up. You can start number of applications that you want to start at the time of startup using batch files.     Here we consider you want to run three different applications (WordPad, calculator, and notepad) and minimized automatically with sequence at windows startup. However, you can write a batch file to open any program that is installed on your system. There are many other uses of a batch file but here we are not going to discuss them.     Open any text editor like notepad and type the following command. start /min wordpad.exe start /min calc.exe start /min notepad.exe     Now choose the option, Save As to save this file with .bat extension. For example filename.bat.     Now Right- click on Start button and choose open > Double click Programs > here open Startu...

Using Windows 7 or Vista Compatibility Mode

Windows Vista or Windows 7, will have problems running some older versions of applications, just because so much has changed under the hood from Windows XP days. Thankfully there is a compatibility mode that can be easily set per application. To configure the compatibility mode for an application, just locate the installation directory and right click on the .exe, selecting Properties from the menu. Select the Compatibility tab: You can choose to run the program in Windows XP compatibility mode, or even all the way back to Windows 95 compatibility. Probably the most useful setting to start off with would be to disable the visual themes and desktop composition, if you can’t get things working. If you are trying to run a video game, you will often need to choose “Run this program as an administrator”. You’ll have to play around with it, but most likely you can get your application working this way.

Windows: Small, Free Way to Use and Mount Images (ISO files) Without Burning Them

Microsoft has an unsupported virtual CD-ROM program. Why buy alcohol or Daemon Tools?  Alcohol and Daemon Tools are excellent software packages that allow users to mount ISO files as virtual CD-ROMs. Yes, there is a way to use that ISO without burning it to a disk. Although these tools are very useful and liked by many people, Microsoft has a free, 60kb program that does the same thing! Of course, it is not supported… and it’s not as friendly as the software listed above; however, it works and it’s free. Here’s the download link. winxpvirtualcdcontrolpanel Here’s the readme: Readme for Virtual CD-ROM Control Panel v2.0.1.1 THIS TOOL IS UNSUPPORT BY MICROSOFT PRODUCT SUPPORT SERVICES System Requirements =================== - Windows XP Home or Windows XP Professional Installation instructions ========================= 1. Greasemonkey

Greasemonkey is a Mozilla Firefox extension that allows users to install scriptsthat make on-the-fly changes to HTML web page content on the DOMContentLoaded event, which happens immediately after it is loaded in the browser (also known as augmented browsing). As Greasemonkey scripts are persistent, the changes made to the web pages are executed every time the page is opened, making them effectively permanent for the user running the script. Greasemonkey can be used for adding new functions to web pages (for example, embedding price comparisons within shopping sites), fixing rendering bugs, combining data from multiple webpages, and numerous other purposes. Technical details Greasemonkey user scripts are written in JavaScript and manipulate the contents of a web page using the Document Object Model interface. Scripts are site-specific and written by hand. userscripts.org maintains a database of Greasemonkey scripts, and for each, lists the URLs of web pages to which the...
